About the Land

Meadowlark Community Farm is nestled in the southwest corner of Juneau County on the edge of the Driftless region of Wisconsin. Our diverse environment includes ridge top farmland, rolling pasture, forest, bottom-land, and beautiful bluffs. We share this land with abundant wildlife, and each season brings us new beauty to appreciate - spring wildflowers, migrating birds, icicles on the bluff.

Our veggies are grown on a five acre field close to the farmstead. We use organic methods striving to build healthy soil and grow delicious, healthy food! Our crop ground is certified organic by MOSA. We have a greenhouse for starting plants and growing microgreens and 2 hoophouse structures for extending the growing season.

About Your Farmers

We, Lauren and Craig, are honored to be grow produce for our community. 2024 will be our 10th growing season as Meadowlark! We first got our hands dirty farming for 2 seasons as interns at Turnip Rock Farm, a winter at Foxtail Farm, and 2 seasons as assistant managers at Blue Moon Community Farm. On these farms, we fell in love with the work of farming.

We wouldn't be here without the love and support of our family and friends. Meadowlark is a multi-generational family farm - in a non-traditional way. We've partnered with Lauren's folks, Larry and Barb Flowers. Our dream of farming and their dream of retiring on land converged and has allowed us to make our dreams an even more beautiful reality.

We farm because of our love of food and community and our passion for sustainability and food justice. We enjoy working hard, working together, and as Craig likes to say - being close to the ground. When we aren't working in the fields, you will find us with our amazing kids, cooking up a delicious meal, baking sourdough bread, exploring our land, or reading a book while enjoying a cup of herbal tea (for Lauren) or coffee (for Craig).

This farm has been a place of many joyful memories for the families who have come before us, and our family is adding memories each day. We are blessed to be the caretakers of such a beautiful piece of land and excited to share it (and the bounty of our work) with you!

Your Farmers,
Craig & Lauren
