about the land

Meadowlark Community Farm is nestled in the southwest corner of Juneau County on the edge of the Driftless region. At the end of our dead end road lies our 200 acre slice of heaven. Our diverse environment includes ridge top farmland, rolling pasture, forest, bottom-land, & beautiful bluffs. We share this land with abundant wildlife, & each season brings us new beauty to appreciate - spring wildflowers, migrating birds, icicles on the bluff.

Our veggies are grown on a five acre field close to the farmstead. We use organic methods striving to build healthy soil & grow delicious, healthy food!

about your farmers

We, Lauren and Craig, are excited to be growing vegetables for our community in beautiful southwest Juneau County. 2019 will be our fifth growing season with our own farm! We first got our hands dirty farming for two seasons as interns at Turnip Rock Farm, a winter at Foxtail Farm, and two seasons as assistant managers at Blue Moon Community Farm. On these farms, we fell in love with the work, and these farmers have become our close friends and mentors.

We wouldn't be here without the love and support of our family and friends. Meadowlark is a multi-generational family farm - in a non-traditional way. We've partnered with Lauren's folks, Larry and Barb Flowers. Our dream of farming and their dream of retiring on land converged and has allowed us to make our dreams an even more beautiful reality.

Farming is our vocation. We farm because of our love of food and community and our passion for sustainability and food justice. We enjoy working hard and working together. When we aren't working in the fields, you will find us cuddling with our kids, Gabriella and Bernard, cooking or baking in the kitchen, on walks with our dog, Cassiopeia, or reading a book while enjoying a cup of tea (for Lauren) or coffee (for Craig).

This farm has been a place of many joyful memories for the families who have come before us. With our friends, family, and community, we hope to add many more. We are blessed to be the caretakers of such a beautiful piece of land and excited to share it with you!

Your Farmers,
Craig & Lauren
