September 25th Farm News

“Do not be angry with the rain; it simply does not know how to fall upwards.”
― Vladimir Nabokov

With all of this rain, we sure are grateful that our farm is on a ridge top! We are also grateful for beautiful looking forecast for the coming week. We pulled the rest of our winter squash from the field before last week's 5 inches, but there is much more to harvest. On this week's schedule - more sweet potatoes and carrots.

Sweet potatoes are one of my favorite vegetables. After we harvest them, we cure them for about a week in a warm, humid environment. This hardens their skins (which helps with storing) and substantially sweetens them up. We will have them in next week's share (#18!) for you all to enjoy.

We hope that you all will be able to make it to our fall harvest party. You should have received an e-mail invitation. If not, you can see the details and RSVP here: http://www.punchbowl.com/parties/ff055971ccaf738c9724
